Philips just wrapped up their press conference, and we got our hands on their new BDP-7200 Blu-ray player. It looks like a pretty standard Profile 1.1 player, albeit with rounded corners and bezel pretties to match the language across the Philips Design Collection. The press release is kinda sketchy on the internals of this player — no surprise, as Philips is emphasizing style over specs in their lineup. Consistent with that play, features like Philips EasyLink (aka CEC) gets billing over the internals. So the jury’s still out on how the DeepColor, 1080p24 looks out of this unit. But if you’re looking for a Blu-ray player to round out your other Philips gear, this one’s easy on the eyes — check it out for yourself in the gallery.

The flood of product introductions from Philips continues on, this time with the Ambisound HTS6100 5.1-channel surround bar and HTS6515 home theater in a box. The HTS6100 is essentially a lower-end repackaging of last year’s HTS8100, only this time with iPod dock and $599 pricetag — $200 less than the HTS8100 — and the HTS6515 is the $499 baby brother version of last year’s $599 HTS6600. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Philips product if it didn’t come with some recklessly insane hyperbole, and those ready to get their Ambisound on should be ready to “lose themselves in an immersive cinematic experience” as “the joint performance of sound and video pulls you away from reality.” Why, you ask? Because “there is no risk of cluttered space or tangled speaker wires,” of course. Ah, no wonder we’ve been trapped this hellish reality for so long. Check the HTS6600 after the break.

Although it’s been a year since we first laid our eye on Sharp’s 108-inch LCD, the super-sized HD set failed to hit the market; but during Sharp’s CES press event today they promised to make it available for sale in ‘08. The obvious question of course is, when, and how much? We don’t know about you, but we don’t have to wait for the official pricing to know it’ll be out of our budget.
